BERLIN:Metamorphosis Collection

  • The German Parliament exhibited this series of thirty paintings entitled, “Berlin: Metamorphosis” as the artistic rendition of the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the Reunification of Germany.  From this collection, the German Parliament purchased the painting entitled, “Communism Lying on the Ground”, for their permanent collection. The exhibition was covered by seventeen newspapers throughout Germany. The largest newspaper, “Die Welt”, applauded this one-artist exhibition in three articles with photographs of the paintings.
  • The “Berlin: Metamorphosis” series was then invited to the Berlin City Hall, “Rathaus Schoneberg”, to be exhibited in the two-hundred-meter long gallery. This exhibition was to commemorate The Release of the Allied Nations from Germany.  It was attended by the Mayor of Berlin, Eberhard Diepgen, and was featured on Berlin television news.  French, British and American military bands, dressed in full regalia, performed during the exhibition.
  • The third exhibition took place in a Black Forest castle, Schloss Bonndorf Museum, to celebrate a transcontinental connection between Swiss, American, and German artists.  The audience included American and German dignitaries.

United Nations World Conference in Vienna

  • The International Society for Human Rights, based in Frankfort, Germany, saw the exhibition, “Berlin: Metamorphosis”, at the German Parliament.  They contacted the artist, requesting a painting that symbolized human rights.  The painting entitled, “The War of Human Rights”, became the symbol for their organization.
  • “The War of Human Rights” was first exhibited at the United Nations Human Rights Conference in Vienna, Austria.  This conference was attended by world leaders such as the Dali Lama and President Clinton.
  • The Society for Human Rights created a black-and-white banner of the painting.  The banner was displayed throughout Vienna to announce the world conference, and it was distributed internationally to promote human rights and the release of  political prisoners in Cuba and Africa.
  • The Los Angeles Times newspaper featured “The War of Human Rights” in color on the front page while the world conference was in session.  The painting was also exhibited in the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles.
